The Vertical House
Client: Noushad Location: Koothuparamb Year: 2024 Status: Proposed
The Vertical House is a contemporary residence defined by its bold vertical forms, sculptural geometry, and refined material palette. Designed with a strong emphasis on proportion and spatial composition, the house transforms simple geometric volumes into a distinctive architectural statement. Architectural Concept The design explores verticality through a striking central feature wall that rises above the surrounding forms, creating a strong visual identity. Interlocking cubic volumes, cantilevered projections, and deep horizontal rooflines establish a dynamic balance between solid and void. A restrained palette of white surfaces, textured grey finishes, and warm wood accents adds depth and sophistication to the façade. Carefully positioned windows and vertical screens introduce filtered daylight while maintaining privacy and visual interest. Spatial Experience The residence combines openness, privacy, and functional planning to support contemporary living. Generous glazing strengthens the connection between interior spaces and the surrounding landscape, while sheltered balconies and recessed entrance areas provide shade and transitional spaces. The integration of greenery softens the architectural geometry, creating a harmonious relationship between the built environment and nature. Design Philosophy The Vertical House celebrates simplicity through form, material, and proportion. Its architectural identity emerges from the interplay of vertical elements and horizontal planes, resulting in a residence that feels bold, balanced, and timeless.
